Leash brief
State the required length, handling arrangement and connection reference for the leash. Ask for the proposed dimensions and attachment details, and identify any sample points you need your reviewer to inspect.
Collar brief
Supply the animal measurements and your required finished-size reference. Request the collar's adjustment and closure details, including a drawing that identifies the measurement positions used in the proposal.
Pairing review
Ask for the proposed connection arrangement between the two items. Review the samples together against your intended walking setup, then record the agreed leash and collar descriptions separately in the purchase request.
Keep leash and collar records separate
Use a separate item reference for the leash and the collar, even when they will be presented together. Identify the connection arrangement discussed during sample review. If either item changes, ask for updated attachment information and review the pair again against the intended setup before selecting the final packing description.
Compare the collar and leash as a proposed pairing
Begin with the walking arrangement your buyer wants to assess. Identify whether the inquiry concerns a collar, a leash or a coordinated set, and describe the animal group for which it is intended. Ask for a separate description of each component rather than treating a matching appearance as a complete specification. Provide your collar measurement requirements and the leash handling preferences of the intended user. Request the supplier's proposed size and fastening information for each item, with the proposed pairing clearly identified in the response.
Use close photographs to discuss the collar closure, adjustment method and leash attachment points. Ask the supplier to show the parts in the position relevant to connecting and disconnecting them. If your buyer has requirements for the way a handle is held or a fitting is operated, describe the action and ask how the proposal addresses it. Keep these as review questions until the sample has been examined. Do not infer the suitability of the connection from a colour name, category description or photograph of an unrelated set.
Create a sample record that distinguishes collar fit from leash handling. Have the reviewer note the collar setting used and the proposed leash configuration examined. Request care instructions for the materials and fittings offered, including any restrictions the supplier specifies. If the same collar is to be sold with different leashes, review each proposed connection and retain the pairing in the order description. Ask for clarification where a photograph, written description and sample show different closures or attachments, rather than choosing whichever version appears most convenient.
At assortment approval, separate size, appearance and connection decisions in the purchasing brief. Ask how each collar size and leash variant will be identified in the proposed packaging. Give the supplier the pairings you want quoted and mark any combinations that remain undecided. For a repeat inquiry, send the accepted sample reference and request disclosure of changes to the fastening or attachment arrangement. Retain the response with the review record so your receiving team can compare the proposed supply with the particular set that was assessed.
If the buyer plans to display collars and leashes separately, ask how the proposed labels distinguish the intended pairings. Retain the relevant connection photographs in the selection file. Have the reviewer check any replacement fitting against the selected collar and leash together, rather than accepting a change because the separate components still carry familiar assortment names.
