Garment shape
Attach a sketch showing the intended coverage and openings. Mark the reference points for length and fit so the supplier can distinguish animal measurements from finished garment dimensions.
Size and care details
Provide the size breakdown and any material preferences. Ask for the proposed garment measurement chart, construction description and care information for the item being offered.
Sample comments
Review the requested sizes using the same measurement diagram. Record changes to openings, closures or artwork on a marked sample sheet, and request an updated garment description when the proposed shape changes.
Keep garment comments measurable
Record pet clothing comments against the marked garment sketch and the sample size reference. State whether each requested change concerns the animal fit, finished garment dimensions or decoration. Ask for an updated size chart when a shape change is proposed and have the reviewer check the affected sizes before selecting the assortment.
Organise the clothing inquiry by fit and dressing method
For pet clothing, describe the garment type you want to review and the animal group it is intended for. Supply measurements with an explanation of where they were taken, and ask the supplier to show how the proposed garment dimensions correspond to them. Keep each intended fit group distinct. If the purchase includes different garment shapes, ask for a size description for each shape instead of transferring a size label from another item. Use the proposed garment's own measurements as the basis for selecting samples for your reviewer.
Explain how the clothing will be put on and removed in your intended routine. Request photographs showing the openings, fastening locations and adjustment features of the proposed item, where present. Ask for dressing instructions and identify any part of the garment that your reviewer needs to examine more closely. If your brief includes a preference about coverage, mark it on a sketch rather than relying on a style name. Have the supplier describe the proposed coverage in relation to that sketch and flag differences before the sample is selected.
During sample review, record the animal measurements, garment dimensions and fastening settings together. Ask the reviewer to describe fit observations at the relevant openings and edges rather than marking only a general pass. Keep appearance approval separate from the fit record. Request material and care descriptions for the proposed garment, and ask for the instructions intended to accompany it. If a different construction or fastening is proposed after the sample review, identify which part of the dressing and fit assessment needs to be repeated before accepting the change.
For a clothing assortment, prepare a mapping between garment style, size description and sample reference. Ask how the selected sizes will be marked on labels and packaging so the retail or receiving team can distinguish them. Include any buyer supplied artwork as a separate file and request confirmation of its proposed placement. Review the label wording alongside the care instructions and fit information. Before approving the assortment, resolve discrepancies between the quoted garment, the sample and the size chart, and keep the final garment description attached to your purchasing decision.
Ask the reviewer to identify which garment opening each measurement or fit observation concerns. If different garments use different dressing methods, retain separate instructions for them. Check that the proposed size labels can be traced back to those records, particularly where the same label appears on garment shapes that your team has assessed using different measurements.
